What telnet is:

it is a method of connecting to a remote computer over the Internet that let you use programs and data just as if you were using the computer locally. it must be active on the recieveing computer and you must know the IP of that computer to connect to it.

To open telnet go to:

start

run

type telnet

press enter.

To connect to a machine type open ipaddress.

press enter

press n then enter

Type user name, then enter, then password, then enter.

Once connected:

If you are connected to a switch you can change the settings for the box much like the BIOS on a computer.

If you are connected to a computer you can use command line to control the computer.
